Australian Apprenticeship Support Services RFT outcomes announced

23 April 2024

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has released outcomes from its Request for Tender (RFT) for organisations to deliver Australian Apprenticeship Support Services 2024-26.

The RFT outcomes deliver a greater variety of organisations providing targeted support to Australian Apprentices and their employers.

Nine organisations will be delivering a new model from 1 July 2024. Within the new model there will be a greater focus on apprentices who face additional barriers to completion, ensuring they have access to targeted mentoring and personalised assistance.

This includes:

  • Apprentices have access to an initial assessment at the beginning of their apprenticeship to help identify language, literacy, numeracy and digital needs and personal barriers.
  • Apprentices who face additional barriers to completion have access to quality targeted mentoring and personalised assistance throughout their apprenticeship.
  • Employers who are not experienced in supporting and supervising apprentices receive additional support to better understand their roles and responsibilities.

It also introduces Specialist Providers to provide expertise across key areas:

  • Women in ‘male dominated’ trades
  • First Nations Australian Apprentices
  • Australian Apprenticeships working towards clean energy occupations.

Please note, services in the Northern Territory are subject to a separate RFT, which is currently under way.
